Wintersteiger Jupiter

Striving for innovation, always staying one step ahead, anticipating, and helping shape the future—this is what has set WINTERSTEIGER apart for decades. With the new generation of Jupiter machines, we take you on a journey to a new world where the latest innovations elevate ski servicing to an unprecedented level.

New technologies have played a significant role in the development of machines. The result? The Wintersteiger Jupiter can read codes on skis, recognize ski categories, compare data with software, and communicate with the WINTERSTEIGER cloud.

With Jupiter, WINTERSTEIGER has made a huge leap forward in development—a machine with unprecedented capabilities. This is another milestone in ski equipment servicing:

  • V-Edge – precision and fixed or variable edge angles for both base and side edges
  • Trim Cut – automatic removal of excess sidewall material and sidewall planning for the most optimal and precise side edge sharpening
  • Advanced ski guiding system consisting of 9 to 11 cylinders (Race) per ski, ensuring even and optimal distribution of pressure across the skis and excellent grinding up to the tip of the skis
  • Barcode / QR code – individual edge preparation according to the ski classification read from the code on the ski
  • Tune Pilot - optimal structure – computer-based selection of structure tailored to weather/snow conditions. Choice of predefined structure shapes for each type of snow based on previously defined and tested parameters. Also allows for defining individual structures and recreating structures specified by manufacturers using barcode/QR code.
  • Tune Pilot - optimal edges – computer-based setting of fixed or variable angles along the entire length of the skis

V-Edge

Innovative Technology for Setting Edges with Variable Angles

The edge is ground at a variable angle in the tip and tail areas and at a constant angle underfoot—both on the base and side edges. V-Edge works in conjunction with Tune Pilot to effectively provide proven parameters and optionally with automatic ski recognition. Perfect edge hold and ease of turning ensure the highest skiing experience. V-Edge is available for both the disc module and the polishing module.

With the "automatic ski recognition" option, edge angle changes in V-Edge mode occur fully automatically. The edge angles are variable along the entire length of the skis. Under the ski plate, they have a dynamic angle, providing optimal grip and control on hard, artificial snow and ice. The edge angle is greater at the tip and tail, facilitating better control and ease of turning. In addition to completely new skiing sensations, this also significantly increases safety.

Precise, variable edge grinding is done on both the base and side edges, completely independent of the length and width of the skis. Parameters can also be predefined and tested or adjusted on the fly, and then saved to replicate individual settings in the future.

One V-Edge for 2 modules: the V-Edge disc also controls the polishing module.

Trim Cut - Automatic Sidewall Removal

With Trim Cut for automatic sidewall removal, WINTERSTEIGER has achieved a complete innovation! Trim Cut is used for planning the sidewall. It is integrated into the first stone module and is automatically activated during the process. This ensures maximum precision in the subsequent edge processing stage. But why is this preliminary processing necessary? Protruding ABS from the sidewall can negatively impact the setting of the side edge. Trim Cut eliminates the "carelessness" of manual sidewall removal and forms the basis for precise edge grinding.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

I don't know what service and which services I should perform on my equipment, can someone advise me?

In our ski service, we approach each person and each set of skis very individually. We thoroughly assess the skis each time and determine which service will be most suitable for the equipment. You can come to us without any knowledge about servicing, and we will advise you on which service and scope of work should be performed.

If, on the other hand, you have knowledge and experience with other services and know exactly what your skis need, we are happy to listen. We can also recommend the appropriate services and settings that will work best for your equipment.

Our Wintersteiger Jupiter machine also has an advanced database that records information about settings, service programs, and all performed services. Therefore, if you have used our services before, we can quickly recreate your last settings and the exact scope of work performed. This greatly enhances our advisory process, ensuring that your skis maintain the same parameters previously established. Thanks to this technology, the service is not only faster but also more personalized and precise.

Which service do customers choose most often?

Definitely the PRO SERVICE package. The "PRO SERVICE" package includes all the essential processes that will be appreciated by both amateur and professional skiers. As part of this service, we utilize the full capabilities of the Wintersteiger Jupiter machine, including V-Edge, edge polishing with a diamond disc, base edge beveling down to 0.2°, and applying the best sports structure adapted to current conditions.

Additionally, during waxing, we select waxes tailored to the current weather conditions and temperature, as well as consider the period of the season. The "PRO SERVICE" package is a comprehensive service that will provide you with riding comfort and the assurance that your skis are maintained at the highest possible level.

Is it worth regularly servicing your equipment? I heard that "frequent servicing wears down the edges and shortens the lifespan of the skis."

Regular and frequent visits to the ski service have many advantages that can significantly improve your experience on the slopes and extend the lifespan of your skis. Sharp edges, a well-prepared base, and the appropriate structure allow for better control over the skis, leading to greater enjoyment of skiing and improved skills.

You often hear the opinion that machine servicing removes too much edge material. However, this is a myth. The most material is removed from the edges and base when you haven't serviced your skis for a long time—this is when the edges and base are usually very neglected and require thorough regeneration. Regular servicing helps maintain the edges and base in good condition, reducing the need to remove a large amount of material. Additionally, the Wintersteiger Jupiter is the most advanced service machine in the world, operating with unparalleled precision. This machine is individually calibrated for each pair of skis, depending on the degree of wear, and the condition of the base and edges. Thanks to this, the Wintersteiger Jupiter removes exactly as much material as necessary to restore the skis to perfect condition. This precise calibration maximizes material preservation while ensuring the highest quality service. In summary: if you want to feel comfortable while skiing and extend the lifespan of your skis, choose proven ski services with the most modern machine park.

What are the service completion times?

First and foremost, we recommend planning your equipment service in advance, especially during busy periods such as holidays, pre-holiday seasons, or weekends. During these times, we typically observe increased demand for services, which can extend waiting times. Nevertheless, we make every effort to keep our service times as short as possible.

For a full service, our typical turnaround time is 1-3 business days. Each time, our staff will precisely determine when your equipment will be ready for pickup.

How do I know which edge angles will work best for my skis?

Edge angles are crucial in determining how skis perform on the slope. Choosing the right edge sharpening angle is essential for ensuring proper grip, control, and comfort while skiing. Different angles are used depending on the type of skis, the skier's skill level, the conditions on the slope, and whether the skis are for recreational use or competitions.

In our service, each time we take in skis for sharpening, we consult with the customer and recommend the appropriate sharpening angles. We consider all the aforementioned factors to tailor the settings to the skier's individual needs. Additionally, our Wintersteiger Jupiter machine can read the manufacturer's QR code, which contains the recommended edge settings for the specific skis. Usually, the manufacturer knows best which angles and parameters are optimal for their skis. Through advanced testing and research, manufacturers can precisely adjust the ski profile and edge angles to various snow conditions and skiing styles. By maintaining the original settings, we ensure that the skis are sharpened according to the manufacturer's recommendations, further enhancing the quality of our service.

In Summary: You don't need to worry about how to sharpen your skis. Depending on your skill level and the type of skis, we will recommend the appropriate settings so that you can fully enjoy the benefits of precisely prepared equipment.

Why are many services in other places cheaper?

In our ski service, we do not aim to be the cheapest on the market. Our goal is to offer specialized, modern services supported by the best machinery. Our machines are currently the most modern devices available on the market (the oldest ones we use for service are from 2023), and the Wintersteiger Jupiter is currently the most advanced service machine in the world. It is used by the world's top teams (including the US Ski Team, Austrian Ski Federation, German National Ski Teams), athletes, national teams, and ski clubs. The Wintersteiger Jupiter is officially recommended and used by manufacturers such as Head, Rossignol, Dynastar, Atomic, Van Deer, Stockli, Fischer, Voelkl, and others.

What sets us apart is that we do not operate on a mass scale – we pay attention to every detail and take a very individualized approach to each pair of skis. Each time, we select the appropriate scope of work, calibrate, and set up the machine to ensure the highest quality service.

If you care about quality rather than just the economic factor, our service is definitely for you. When comparing our prices with other services, we encourage you to check and inquire about the specific services offered by each service and the machines they use. This way, you will see that our offer is exceptional in terms of precision, modernity, and individual approach to each customer.

Can the service be performed on-site?

If you are looking for a full ski service, it's important to understand that this process takes time and it is practically impossible to perform it on-site. Full ski servicing requires a precise approach and individualized treatment of each pair of skis. Our machines, such as the Wintersteiger Jupiter, are re-calibrated and set up anew each time based on the equipment provided by the customer. This allows us to ensure the highest quality service tailored to the specific needs of your equipment.

We recommend planning your equipment service in advance, especially during busy periods such as holidays, pre-holiday seasons, or weekends. During these times, we typically observe increased demand for services, which can extend waiting times. However, we make every effort to keep our service times as short as possible.

While a full ski service requires time and precision and is typically not feasible to perform on-site, there are certain service processes that we can sometimes complete on-site. These include hot waxing, base structuring, and binding diagnostics, among others. The ability to perform these services on-site depends on the availability of our technicians and the current workload of orders.

Which service is better, manual or machine?

In the skiing community, there are often debates about the superiority of manual service over machine service and vice versa. However, it's important to recognize that modern professional ski service is not possible without advanced machines. Our observations indicate that only those services emphasizing the superiority of manual over machine service do not have a modern machine park or lack it entirely. There are many services that cannot be performed manually with the same accuracy as machines provide. Such services include base structuring and precise ski leveling.

Nowadays, skis can be sharpened with computer precision and customized settings, which is only possible thanks to advanced technologies. It is also worth noting that there are currently no ski manufacturers or major teams in the world that do not use machines.

Of course, there are also individual services during the process that are performed manually. However, if we talk about the entire service process—from base leveling, applying structure to the skis, precise sharpening with variable angles, etc.—it is not possible to professionally perform these services without the appropriate machines.

How long does the service last?

It is impossible to determine exactly and unequivocally how long a ski service lasts. It all depends on individual factors, such as the number of days spent on the slope, the conditions during skiing, and how well we take care of our equipment. Expectations from the service also vary between amateur skiers or snowboarders and those who train or compete in races.

However, we can generally assume that if you are going on a week-long ski trip and choose one of our full-service packages, you will be able to enjoy the feel of very well-serviced equipment and the comfort of skiing for the entire week.

Therefore, it is worth regularly using service services to ensure that your equipment is in the best possible condition, which translates to safety, enjoyment of skiing, and performance during competitions.
